Does your website mean business?
If you can’t confidently shout about your amazing website from the rooftops, we need to talk.
In this day and age, if you don’t have a website, you’re undoubtedly missing out on some serious business.
If potential customers can’t find you online, they can’t engage with you – whether that’s actually buying online, or finding out more what makes your business tick, and discovering why they absolutely need to buy your product or service.
It’s also true that a bad website can be even worse than no website at all.
Your website is your shop window. If that shopping or browsing experience is uncomfortable, either visually or as people go along their customer journey, you are going to lose sales. End of.
What kind of first impression are you making?
In today’s world, so many people shop online, or at the very least research products online. If your online presence is weak, regardless of how great your actual product is, it’s doing you no favours, and potentially great damage.
Your site needs to be clean and uncluttered, and to reflect your brand in a really positive way. It needs to link up with your social media accounts, if you have them.
Most importantly, it needs to work well on mobile phones and tablets. Your website analytics can tell us what percentage of visitors use a mobile device to visit your site.
If people have to scroll endlessly to use your site on their phone you may as well forget it – their visit will be a short one.
What should a good website do?
Your site needs to speak to your customers. It should talk their language – no jargon or tech speak (unless your audience fully understands those terms).
Your website should be showing, telling, explaining, educating and persuading your customers how you can solve their problems. This is true whether they’re looking for a new lamp or wondering how on earth to support a family member with dementia.
There are lots of ways we can do that…
- Blog posts are a great Google-pleasing way to tell your stories, through interviews, a ‘day-in-the-life’ profile of a member of staff, testimonials from happy customers, or a ‘listicle’ setting out the ‘Top 5 places to go in Dorset’, for example.
- Videos are a really effective way of getting your message across. Any of the blog post ideas above could be translated into short and simple videos that I embed into your website.
- Animations are another way of bringing a topic to life. They look amazing on websites and social media posts.
